Welcome to the Cancer Council Annual Review 2008-09

Cancer Council Australia aims to minimise the threat of cancer for all Australians, through successful prevention, best treatment and support.

This review details our efforts to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer both now and in the future by:

• funding and doing cancer research
  
• campaigning for change to improve cancer control policy and practices
• sharing information to increase awareness and understanding of cancer
• developing and implementing programs and policies that will help prevent and control cancer
• providing support for people affected by cancer
• improving cancer management.

It acknowledges the many individuals and organisations who have supported and enabled our progress against cancer, and includes our financial report for 1 January 2008 to 30 June 2009.*

*Cancer Council Australia changed from calendar year reporting to financial year reporting in 2008. This review includes activity from Jan-Jun 2008, not covered by the Annual Review 2007
